HJWAVE (CEO Tae-Hwan Yoo), a millimeter wave (mmWAVE, 30–300 GHz) specialist, announced on the 19th that it has launched a Pencil Beam antenna with a Beam Width of less than 6 degrees (Horizontal & Vertical) at a frequency of 60 GHz.

The product consists of a waveguide slot array with 256 elements in 3 layers and has a wide bandwidth of 7 GHz from 57 GHz to 64 GHz, a Gain of 33 dBi, and a size of 7.5 x 7.5 cm.

Four slots are implemented as one sub-array in a 2x2 configuration, and these sub-array configurations are arranged in the vertical and horizontal directions by 8 each to create a total of 16x16 256-slot array antenna structure, which operates as a Pencil Beam antenna with a vertical and horizontal antenna beam width of 6 degrees.

An official from HJWAVE said, "We have first released the 60GHz product, which has the highest frequency and difficulty among the applicable fields. By applying the same related technology at the desired frequency, it can provide high-resolution signal transmission and excellent bandwidth performance, so it can be applied to various industries such as defense industry radar, low-orbit communication satellites, high-precision position tracking, wireless gigabit communication (WiGig), vehicle-to-vehicle communication (V2V) of autonomous vehicles, industrial automation and robotics, medical and healthcare fields, and future D-band base station antennas."

CEO Yoo Tae-hwan said, "Through the release of this Pencil Beam antenna, we have proven that the fields of application for the 27 related patents we currently hold can be applied and expanded to various fields such as not only autonomous driving radar but also the defense industry, low-orbit satellite communications, mobile communications, etc. We plan to seek to expand and advance into the defense industry and mobile communications fields in the future."
