HJWAVE
(CEO Yoo Tae-hwan), a millimeter wave (mmWave, 30–300 GHz) RF specialized
company, announced on the 8th that it has launched a 24 GHz antenna that
implements and internalizes waveguide technology by utilizing copper and vias
of PCBs instead of waveguide antennas that were previously manufactured only by
plating metal or injection molded products.
HJWAVE
said, “ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) based on smart cities require
cooperative driving between vehicles and traffic control systems. In order to
perfectly implement this, high detection distance and wide detection range
functions of traffic control radar are required. Accordingly, we have developed
a PCB antenna product that applies waveguide technology in the 24 GHz frequency
band that can improve detection distance, increase detection area, reduce size,
and reduce price.”
CEO
Yoo Tae-hwan said, “By implementing the waveguide
technology with high antenna gain characteristics into the internal layer of
the PCB, which was difficult to apply due to manufacturing techniques, we have
expanded the component mounting area, contributing to the miniaturization of
the finished product and cost reduction. We plan to develop various frequencies
as PCB waveguide antenna types in the future.”
He continued, “We
have completed the patent application for the technology, and we expect that it
can be used in the Ku-band (12–18 GHz) and Ka-band (26.5–40 GHz) frequency
bands of 5G, 6G mobile communications and low-orbit satellite communications in
the future. We also announced that we plan to release a product that applies
the waveguide technology to an injection-molded object such as a radome in the near future.
